Hi All GMUG, Our third meeting of 2009 Should hopefully be a great event. So here is the final information for our June 27th Meeting. The Venue Location, Date and Time can be found on the R.S.V.P Web Page.

Members that wish to Attend the meeting should R.S.V.P Before the 25th of June . If you would like to attend you should also Bring a Gold coin donation for the Kitty And a dish to share with other members.

These are not full meeting notes but there is a fair bit of information That we covered at this month’s meeting

Anyway,
Here are the URL’s that I promised at this month’s meeting 

Skitch

Skitch is a great application that allows you to take screenshots and Add some notes or other related information and then post them on the Internet using a one click button

It is made by the people who Made Comic Life More information is Available on the Skitch Website

1Password

We digressed in various directions While we were talking about 1Password

First I mentioned Don McAllisters Video Tutorial On 1Password Which Can be found Here. 

Don McAllister Has done a fair few other videos which can be found on his website related to 1Password He does a lot of other good video tutorials as well Head over to ScreenCastsOnline to check them out.

Also why I was talking about 1Passwords Built-in Anti-Phishing Which uses a service called PhishTank I mentioned OpenDNS Who owns PhishTank

OpenDNS Offers Anti-Phishing Protection if you sign up with them and switch your DNS settings

Lastly Richard wanted to know if he could share his 1Password with multiple computers I recommended he use Dropbox - Secure backup, sync and sharing made easy. Which I have been trying out for a few months and have been loving it so far. 

In Version 2.9 of 1Password They added sinking using other services other than .mac/MobileMe More information on how to set this up can be found here I Set this feature up for Richard on Tuesday and so far it seems to Work great.

After some minor delays and problems everything is ready to proceed

Please read carefully The following As this will explain How to subscribe and the new schedule

The New Mailing List


December the 1th (Today)

From today onwards members can register at the new Mailing List Here

Registration requires confirmation and approval by an administrator so it may take up to a day before you are added to the Mailing List

All E-mail sent to the new mailing list up to the seventh of December Will be refused and will be sent back so Members should continue using the old mailing list Into the seventh of December

Note: Remember Due to antispam laws in Australia members will have to register To this mailing list

December the 7th to the 22th

This is the grace period between the shutdown of the old Mailing List and the rollout of the New one

On The 7th of December the New Mailing List Will become active And I will unsubscribe members that have registered for the new one

And members that have not registered for the new mailing list will be Sent three reminder e-mails on each Monday to December 22th With the old mailing list being shut down on December 22th At 11:30 PM

Hi All GMUG

Final Update: The Mail Server Crashed Thanks to Matt forgetting everything working again

Update 4: 12:46 PM Everything looks Ok and back up and running again Total downtime was about 12 hours

Update 3: 11:47 AM If I have not received a reply by 1:00 PM I will start working on rolling out our new mailing list a head off schedule

Update 2: 10:33AM E-Mails had been sent out to the usual suspects hopefully I’ll receive a reply soon

Update 1: It’s 8:00AM and we are still not back up

Service Outage - Mailing List It is now 12:42 a.m. and I have noticed the mailing list is down hopefully is fixed by the morning If not I will try to chase what the problem is up in the morning

P.S - Who is now off to bed
