While I’m not sure what to say about there not being any nominations at all yet for the group election. But I feel I should let members know where I stand as of this minute I have not yet decided if I would like to even continue in any of the roles managing (GMUG)

Some of the Behaviour of the members of (GMUG) since the beginning of the year off list and on the group’s mailing list have made me feel unappreciated within the group Which is quite disappointing as I don’t believe members understand what is involved and how many hours a week running this group involves on a daily basis.

I do not want to go into this matter in more detail In this e-mail. But would like to let members know that I am seriously Considering my future participation with the Geraldton Macintosh User Group

As per current policy, I recently posted a list of members who had recently decided to leave the (GMUG) list for various reasons.

Reg has since contacted me asking for a ‘retraction’ regarding the reason he has decided to leave (GMUG).

I understood from various comments he had made to myself and to other members at recent meetings that his major reason for stepping back from any involvement with (GMUG) was due to increasing family and personal commitments. Other members of the group thought the same I did and have even stated so on the mailing list.

Now, it appears that although Reg stated he was leaving the group and unsubscribed from the mailing list, he is actually still monitoring all the posts made to the mailing list through the archive we maintain for historical purposes and has now demanded that I let (GMUG) members know that he has not left the group for ‘family reasons’ at all.

However, I don’t think it is appropriate for me to post his email detailing his reasons. Nor do I think it reasonable for him to demand that I personally post his ‘new’ reasons for leaving.

If Reg wishes to provide further details on his reasons for leaving (GMUG) he is welcome to do so himself.

Hi All (GMUG),

With everything that’s been happening over the last few months, perhaps it is time we hold another election for the leadership position of the Geraldton Macintosh User Group.

The election will work by allowing anyone that is currently a member of the group nominate themselves or another member of the group for the combined position of (GMUG) Leader & Apple Ambassador by replying to the relevant e-mail on the mailing list and posting the name of the person to be nominated.

Nominations will be open as soon as this has been posted to our mailing list (approx 10pm, April 6, 2010) and will close 10pm April 13, 2010.

If there is only a single nomination for the Leader position, that person shall be considered elected to that position. If there are two or more nominations, we will conduct an election at the April 17th meeting.

At present, ALL the various roles needed to run (GMUG) have fallen upon a single individual and it is recommended that these roles be spilt off to a number of different individuals, although some positions could be combined.

The roles could be broken up in to the following positions;

* Leader/President (for want of a better term)
This person will be leader of (GMUG) and guide the other positions

* Apple Ambassador
This person would actually register themselves with Apple to gain to access to the Apple Sales Website and would be the primary contact with Apple. More information about the ASW can be found at http://www.appleusers.org/introduces/introducing-apple-sales-web/
This person would also act as the liaison to AppleUsers.org and AppleUserGroupResources.com and would subscribe to the mailing lists of those groups and then share the relevant information with the rest of group

* Meeting Co-ordinator
This person would be in charge of organising our meetings. They would arrange for a couple of short presentations per meeting, either giving the presentations themselves or arranging for another member to do so. They would also be responsible for providing details about what topics are to be presented to the Webmaster and Leader.

* Treasurer
This person would be responsible for looking after the (GMUG) kitty each month

* Membership Officer
This person would welcome new members to the list and activate their account on the mailing list and in the Members Only section of the website.

* Webmaster
Responsible for posting announcements and news to the (GMUG) website in a timely manner

We should look at running elections for all these positions later in the year – say September.

Members should now respond to the relevant e-mail on the mailing list with their nominations for the new (GMUG) Leader & Apple Ambassador
